Staining and Coating

Wood is the most marvellous product to work with. It has consistency, yet is so varied. It allows us to shape, colour and finish in so many ways. It is natural and it can be varied. No two pieces are the same, but a masterpiece can be created.

We are learning new techniques and processes all the time, and we can do the same as our grandfathers did so many years ago.

We are proud to be experts in colour and coating wood for many different purposes, with our focus being walls and ceilings.

Wood Profiles

Wainscot processes all sorts of wood profiles.

Tongue and groove, cladding, sheets, sarking boards. Sharp, shaped or rebated edges. Wood with all sorts of finishes. Sanded smooth or brushed. Band sawn or dressed. Rough sawn or skipped. Stained, coloured, or clear coatings. Water, solvent, oil or mineral based products. High gloss or matte finishes.

Our Materials

Wainscot has a policy of using wood that has been grown in a sustainable plantation. This policy does not preclude New Zealand natives, but we are very selective about the origin of the wood we use. Oak, Yellow Cedar and Hemlock are very popular. They are stable, accept colour well, and there are ample supplies available.

We regularly manage our work in conjunction with the architects and interior designers on projects. We can create bespoke colours, textures and finishes to complement your vision.

Adrian and the team at Wainscot have worked with me on many beautiful projects. Our clients have appreciated the expert input, to the colours and textures of the ceilings and the feature walls that we have created. I recommend the Wainscot team for your next project.

Delivery & Installation

When our work is completed, the wood is packed ready to be shipped to site. Protecting it while in transit is important and requires a good system to work. We specifically load the wood to protect it. For instance, each layer has a sheet of foam cushioning between the faces to protect the wood during transit. The pack is then wrapped in a special wood wrap plastic cover and loaded onto a truck for transport to your build site.

The project builder will undertake the installation work, while Wainscot focuses on the colour and coating process.
